Katchkie Farm
About Katchkie Farm
In 2006, Great Performances became the first caterer in the country to own and operate an organic farm. Located in Kinderhook, New York, Katchkie Farm spans 60 acres and is NOFA-certified, with a strong focus on regenerative farming practices that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability.
Katchkie Farm is both a source of inspiration for our culinary teams and a direct source of produce for our kitchens. The farm supplies ingredients for our catering menus, cafés and restaurants, and workplace dining programs, and informs how we think about seasonality, menu planning, and ingredient-driven cooking throughout the year. During the growing season, about 30% of the produce used across Great Performances kitchens comes directly from Katchkie Farm, allowing us to work with ingredients at peak freshness while maintaining a clear connection between farm, kitchen, and table.
Katchkie is a working farm, fully integrated into our culinary operations, grounding our food philosophy in daily practice.

Inspiration For Our Chefs
Each season begins with collaboration. Culinary Director Andrew Smith works closely with Farmer Jon Ronsani to determine which crops to grow, focusing on what is flavorful, distinctive, and well-suited to the land.
Those ingredients inform menus across Great Performances — from catering events to cafés, restaurants, and workplace dining programs. What’s harvested at peak season appears thoughtfully and consistently throughout the year, allowing freshness and quality to guide menu development.
Preservation is an essential part of the process. When the farm produces in abundance, herbs are dried, garlic scapes and peppers are pickled or fermented, and tomatoes are cooked into sauce. This approach reduces waste, extends the harvest, and allows us to use Katchkie-grown ingredients well beyond the growing season.

The Sylvia Center
Katchkie Farm is also home to The Sylvia Center, founded by Great Performances’ founder Liz Neumark. The Sylvia Center is dedicated to educating young people and families about healthy food choices through hands-on cooking and nutrition programs.
Operating both on the farm and throughout New York City, the organization connects children to where food comes from and builds confidence through cooking—extending the farm’s impact beyond what’s grown in the fields.
Hosting at Katchkie Farm
Katchkie Farm is also a setting for private events and gatherings, offering a relaxed, agricultural backdrop rooted in the Hudson Valley landscape. Events at the farm reflect the same values that guide our cooking: seasonality, simplicity, and a strong sense of place.
